Wanted: Knives of Truth

We intend to establish a free, electronically published journal, showcasing new writing by women alongside explorations of lost and neglected works by radical women of the past. We begin from the assertion that the voices of working-class women, past and present, are not heard. With this in mind we seek to create a space in which women can speak of their experiences and experiment with forms of expression and representation, and in which the voices of women in history who resisted the double bind of class and gender can be heardon their own terms. Women’s writing has too often become absorbed by the politically neutralising consensus of the academy, the culture industries and the mainstream media. It is against this disarmament that we issue this call, in the spirit of Ethel Carnie’s Rebel Pen Club for Working Women.

We are interested in:

- Creative writing

- Reviews and critical work

- Interviews

- Biographical features on radical women

- Comment pieces on social and political issues

- Life writing

We are also keen to hear from anyone with web or graphic design experience who’d be interesting in helping produce the journal.
